"To mark half a decade of GDFS, Warriors Studio and Cause & Effect collaborated to create an identity which celebrated the growth of the festival into a rambunctious five year old toddler." Creative Review

Combining the visual language of children’s birthday parties with more mature and refined aesthetic elements we aimed to create an identity which is multi-layered and multi-dimensional.

Illustrations of birthday badges, jelly, party horns, paper hats, streamers and more formed the basis of the identity’s artwork.

The programme guide was designed like a birthday card, the festival was adorned with balloons, guests received ‘party’ totebags, streamers were popped to celebrate the festival’s launch and a balloon artist even sculpted balloon artwork in the identity’s colour palette for those attending.
